Frequently Asked Questions

What is concierge medicine and why private pay?

Concierge medicine is highly individualized care that allows for longer appointments and close contact with your provider. This includes the ability to contact them by phone or through the patient portal. Scheduling with your provider is also more flexible and convenient. The benefits of this practice model are sustainable outside of the constraints of insurance companies. The additional staff required to support and navigate insurance adds layers between you and your provider. We believe the best care can be provided in the most effective manner when you coordinate and work directly with your care provider.

How much does it cost and how does payment work?

Payment is made prior to the appointment by credit or debit card on the patient portal. You may use HSA payments for appointments.

Is there a membership fee?

We do not include additional fees to become a patient/client of First Light Psychiatry, other than the fees for your visit. Some clinics practicing within the concierge model have a membership model, however, we strive to deliver tailored care and responsive support as our standard of service.

What if I have insurance?

In many instances, your insurance company will reimburse you for out-of-network charges. Upon request, we will provide a superbill from your appointment for you to submit to your insurance. Coverage may vary depending on your insurance provider, however, reimbursement may range anywhere from 50-80% of the total cost of services. We highly encourage you to contact your insurance provider prior to your appointment to inquire about your out-of-network mental health and deductible benefits, including benefits for telemedicine.

What about medications?

If you have insurance, your medications will still be covered as usual based on your policy. If you do not have insurance or limited coverage, we recommend using the website or app GoodRx.com which offers coupons for getting your medications at a discounted price.
